The ICT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the organisation’s ICT infrastructure to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and available to support business operations.

The role oversees the ICT technical team and works closely with ASP tenants and external service providers to ensure effective ICT service delivery. The incumbent will coordinate ICT system operations, manage infrastructure projects, ensure governance and compliance, and develop ICT policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

ICT Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain IT infrastructure including servers, workstations, network devices, applications, and databases.
  • Oversee network components such as switches, routers, firewalls, LAN/WAN environments, and Cisco telephony systems.
  • Manage ICT security processes including disaster recovery, backups, and incident management.
  • Coordinate and review user access control and security permissions.
  • Ensure proper maintenance schedules for infrastructure and server environments.
  • Manage network services such as Active Directory, DHCP, Exchange, and Azure environments.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and identify risks or vulnerabilities, implementing mitigation strategies where required.
  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly ICT performance reports.
  • Support and coordinate implementation of new ICT projects.

ICT Administration

  • Maintain accurate and well-indexed documentation of all ICT systems and processes.
  • Manage ICT procurement including preparation of expenditure memos and terms of reference.
  • Ensure accurate submission of ICT invoices for finance processing.
  • Identify and recommend ICT vendors and service providers.
  • Conduct research and development on new technologies, solutions, and products.

ICT Project Management

  • Manage ICT project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support the ICT Department Manager with both planned and ad-hoc projects.
  • Contribute to departmental business planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Assist in new business development concepts related to ICT services.
  • Monitor systems, processes, and project schedules on behalf of the department manager.

People Management

  • Lead and manage the ICT technical team to optimise operational performance.
  • Conduct performance planning and review sessions.
  • Monitor employee performance in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members.
  • Identify and recommend relevant training and development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Matric Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree (NQF Level 7) in Information Technology or a related field recognised by SAQA

Certifications

  • Project Management Certification
  • Microsoft Certifications (MCP, MCSA, MCTS or MCSE)
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST)

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years hands on technical experience in related ICT infrastructure management and support environments.
