The intelligence ministry in Iran, which has once again shut down Internet access in the country as the war rages, is clamping down on the Starlink systems some users are still employing to communicate with the outside world.

According to the state news agency Tasnim, the intelligence ministry says it confiscated hundreds of Starlink systems in a nationwide operation.

Iran classifies acquiring and using Starlink as a crime. Anyone using the system during the way could be sentenced to two years of prison time.

The Internet shutdown has been in place since 28 February, when the war began but some Starlink users have been sharing their connections to keep information flowing.

The Internet was also shut down during the protests earlier this year, with Starlink the only source of information about what was happening on the ground.
