We are looking for a Mechanical Technical Assistant to join our dynamic team and play a key role in ensuring high-quality repairs, testing, and technical support for mechanical equipment.

About the Role
As a Mechanical Technical Assistant, you will be responsible for assessing, quoting, repairing, testing, and maintaining a range of mechanical products and equipment. You’ll work closely with customers, internal departments, and management to ensure repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assess incoming repairs and prepare quotations
  • Perform cost-effective repairs, testing, and maintenance on supported products
  • Ensure repaired equipment performs to original operating standards
  • Maintain clear identification of customer equipment and accurate repair records
  • Complete repairs and testing within set turnaround times (48 hours)
  • Provide telephonic technical support to customers
  • Assist customers at the service counter, including booking repairs in and out
  • Work with Production and R&D teams to identify failure trends and recommend improvements
  • Meet repair targets and service delivery expectations
  • Assist with product launches, training, and internal maintenance when required
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant workspace (5S standards)
  • Uphold Occupational Health & Safety standards at all times

Requirements

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a mechanical repair environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems
  • Ability to test, diagnose faults, repair, and maintain equipment
  • Valid driver’s licence (C1 advantageous)
