MetroFibre has reaffirmed that it holds Mplify Carrier Ethernet for Business certification across its six certified Carrier Ethernet services: E-Line, Access E-Line (A EPL), Access E-Line (A EVPL), Transit E-Line, E-LAN and E-Tree.
The Mplify Carrier Ethernet for Business certification is the direct evolution and recent rebranding of the MEF 3.0 Carrier Ethernet certification. It is the industry-recognised program that validates Carrier Ethernet services and solutions designed for enterprise and inter-provider networking. MetroFibre already adheres to this standard across all six services, with no change to its capabilities, or technical requirements.
Mplify, formerly MEF, recently revamped its Carrier Ethernet certification program. As part of that revamp, the MEF 3.0 certification was rebranded as the Mplify Carrier Ethernet for Business certification. The change gives network operators enhanced benchmarking capabilities to measure performance across network services. Mplify also introduced a new maintenance program to ensure certifications remain relevant over time.
Certification testing is managed by Iometrix, Mplify’s accredited test and certification partner for Carrier Ethernet. Carrier Ethernet services are validated against MEF 91 and MEF 91.0.1 test requirements, using business-specific traffic profiles and standardised performance objectives. This ensures predictable and consistent service behaviour across providers and network deployments.
“The Mplify certification is independent, third-party validation that MetroFibre’s Carrier Ethernet services meet a globally recognised standard for performance and interoperability. While it is not a new achievement, it reaffirms our continued alignment with the global standard, now under the Mplify name. It means that we are certified to the same globally recognised standard as the world’s leading connectivity providers, and our certification is independently validated by a third party, not self-declared,” says Gary Webster, head of wholesale at MetroFibre.
