The Limpopo Provincial Government, Telkom and BCX are advancing the province’s digital transformation agenda through a R3-million digital connectivity pilot aimed at strengthening critical public-service infrastructure and enabling improved healthcare, education and government services.
The initiative covers George Masebe Hospital, Mosesetjane Clinic and Machepelele Secondary School and uses fibre-based SD-WAN technology to provide a more resilient and digitally enabled connectivity environment. The R3 million investment includes installation, activation, service monitoring, assurance and technical support for 12 months.
The Limpopo Provincial Government, Telkom and BCX marked the handover of the digital connectivity pilot covering these three critical public-service facilities. The handover represents an important step in turning the province’s digital transformation ambitions into practical solutions that can improve how essential services are delivered to communities.
In healthcare, stronger connectivity can support services such as telemedicine and tele-radiology, helping connect healthcare facilities with specialist expertise while supporting improved access to and synchronisation of electronic patient information. In education, enhanced connectivity can expand access to digital learning platforms, online educational resources and technology-enabled teaching and learning tools.
Dr Phophi Ramathuba, premier of Limpopo, says: “Digital transformation must ultimately translate into better services and better outcomes for the people of Limpopo. By strengthening connectivity in hospitals, clinics and schools, we are creating opportunities to improve access to healthcare, education and public services.
“Partnerships with Telkom and BCX enable us to combine government priorities with industry expertise to build a more connected and digitally enabled province.”
The initiative builds on Telkom’s broader investment in Limpopo. Over the past five years, the Group has invested approximately R1.24 billion in network infrastructure across the province, including 218 new network sites and 1 400 network upgrades.

BCX adds capabilities across cloud, cybersecurity, data, artificial intelligence, IoT and big data, enabling the partnership to extend beyond connectivity towards more integrated digital government services.
The parties will further formalise their collaboration through Memoranda of Understanding, establishing a framework for continued cooperation and identifying future opportunities in areas including smart cities, smart agriculture, infrastructure security, water management, environmental monitoring and digital learning.
Through the pilot and continued collaboration, the Limpopo Provincial Government, Telkom and BCX aim to build a scalable digital foundation that strengthens public service delivery, supports inclusive development and contributes to a more connected Limpopo.
