South Africa’s telecommunications landscape has welcomed a new player with the official launch of Aweh Mobile.

Aweh Mobile places the household at the centre of its value proposition, as mobile services are increasingly shared across multiple members of the same household.

Nokuthula Mkhwane, MD of Aweh Mobile, explains: “Aweh Mobile was created with the everyday South African family in mind. We understand that affordability is important, but affordability should never mean compromising on the quality, convenience or value of the service a family receives. Our ambition is to give families a simpler way to stay connected while giving them greater visibility and control over how their mobile services are used.”

The family-focused proposition allows customers to manage multiple SIMs through a single account and dashboard, helping households consolidate their mobile requirements rather than managing several disconnected accounts. Customers can share voice, SMS and data across their SIMs, monitor usage, receive balance alerts and use automatic top-up functionality.

The offering also incorporates parental controls, giving parents greater oversight of their children’s mobile usage. This is particularly relevant as younger South Africans increasingly rely on mobile devices for communication, education, entertainment and access to digital services.

“For us, launching Aweh is about more than entering a crowded telecommunications market. It is about contributing something meaningful to the way South African families connect. “We want people to see affordability differently; as an opportunity to get greater value, better control and a mobile experience that works for the whole family,” further explains Mkhwane.
