Mauritius-based insurer Swan has gone live on SSP’s Pure platform, just over seven months after project commencement, delivering Phase One of the programme on time and within budget.

Following a competitive selection process, Swan selected SSP’s Pure platform based on four core considerations:

  • Strong portfolio functional fit;
  • Support for Mauritian regulatory requirements;
  • SSP’s partnership-led approach; and
  • The platform’s long-term value.

The first phase of the programme delivered end-to-end support for an initial subset of Swan’s portfolio, including policy administration, claims management, reinsurance, and document generation. Phase two of the programme has commenced in September 2026.

Rather than undertaking a like-for-like technology replacement, Swan used the programme as an opportunity to simplify and modernise how it serves its customers.

Success criteria for the programme were agreed before delivery commenced and covered functional capability, operational efficiency, user adoption, integration, reporting, security and overall delivery quality. Particular emphasis was placed on accuracy, governance and providing the business with greater operational visibility and control.

A collaborative governance approach between Swan and SSP supported delivery, with both organisations working to shared objectives and a single programme plan throughout the implementation.

Julien Rivet, senior manager: corporate business (property & liability, specialty risks, marine and travel) at Swan General, says: “At Swan, our ambition is clear: to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving market while continually reinventing how we serve our customers. The successful delivery of Phase One, on time and within budget, reflects the resilience of our organisation, the strength of our partnership with SSP and our collective commitment to excellence.

“This is far more than a technology implementation. It is a strategic transformation that simplifies operations, strengthens governance, enhances visibility, and equips us with the agility required to meet the changing needs of our customers and the market. Every decision we make is guided by one principle: putting the customer at the heart of everything we do.

“As Mauritius’ leading insurer, we have a responsibility not only to adapt to change but to lead it. This milestone represents an important step in our reinvention journey, enabling us to deliver greater value, responsiveness and service excellence while building a more resilient and future-ready business. We are proud of what has been achieved and excited about the opportunities that lie ahead, as we progress into the next phase of our transformation journey.”

Leslie Muthen, director: Africa, US and Caribbean at SSP Worldwide, comments: “Many insurers focus on digitising customer journeys. Swan chose to think about its products, operational processes and underlying platform at the same time. Launching a new core system in just over seven months demonstrates what can be achieved through clear governance, shared objectives and a genuine partnership approach. We are excited to continue supporting Swan as the next phase of its transformation programme gets under way.”

The successful delivery establishes a foundation for Swan’s broader transformation strategy, providing a scalable platform to support future innovation, operational efficiency, and growth across its insurance operations.
