Master Data Management’s MD, Gary Allemann, is the only African to present at the 2015 Data Quality Pro Virtual Summit. Allemann joins a prestigious multinational group of data management specialists on the presenter panel.
“Our goal with this event is to provide our subscribers with convenient and affordable access to the perspectives of leading data governance and data quality practitioners. Allemann, along with many of our speakers, is a recognised authority with years of practical experience. He brings a unique insight into the challenges of dealing with data in emerging markets,” says Dylan Jones, editor and founder of Data Quality Pro.
Emerging economies, in Africa, South America and Asia have historically showed far greater rates of economic growth than more mature markets such as those in North America and Western Europe. Yet, it is precisely this rapid growth which creates data management challenges that are unique to these environments, and can prove overwhelming to those used to European or US data sets.
“My colleagues in Europe and the United States are often surprised by the complexity of our data quality challenges – data in more mature markets is typically of much higher quality. It was this insight that lead me to propose the topic – Data Quality in Emerging Markets – and I am delighted have been selected to represent Africa at this event,” says Allemann.
Gary’s presentation discusses some of these complexities, which include a lack of standards and reference data, high levels of illiteracy and multilingual populations (and data), the impact of each, and strategies for dealing with the same.
The 2015 Data Quality Pro Virtual Summit is available to registered users immediately.
The goal is to provide a long term resource, including the initial presentations, Q&A sessions and learning modules to assist delegates with their ongoing development.
