A well-established multinational rigid plastic manufacturing company requires the above to be responsible for New Business Development and Key Accounts by promoting and selling specialised products into the Food, Beverage and related industries.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- National Diploma or Degree is essential, and a Post Graduate Qualification is pref.
- Previous Sales experience within the Plastic/Packaging or FMCG Manufacturing industry is essential.
- The successful candidate must have an affinity for numbers and technical aspects of product manufacture.
- The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as a good command of English with excellent presentation skills.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to build strong professional relationships, as well as manage challenging tasks with a high degree of self-management.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects to ensure that projects are kept on track and commercialised efficiently.
- The successful candidate must be computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- The successful candidate must be prepared to travel within and outside of South Africa as and when required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Co-ordinating and identifying new business opportunities across the Sub-Saharan Africa region in order to achieve medium to long term growth ambitions for the company.
- Utilizing existing capability / capacity to grow the business in new products with new customers as well as growing the company’s regional footprint and market share by establishing new sites and new technologies with new customers.
- Planning for short term / medium term and long-term growth as opportunities will differ greatly in terms of complexity, time frame and quantum of investment.
- Understanding business capability and strategy in order to develop potential opportunities that are aligned with the company’s capability and objectives.
- Understanding the market by territory to understand the customer base and competitive environment.
- Performing preliminary investigations, fact finding and store checks etc to identify new opportunities.
- Prioritising opportunities based on likelihood of success, complexity, investment required etc.
- Working closely with the Sales team to ensure that new opportunities are aligned with any existing business and customer strategy.
- Working with the Technical / Packaging / Purchasing teams locally and internationally to develop a scope of work.
- Utilising standard tools and potentially other methods to develop financial models to properly evaluate opportunities.
- Developing commercial proposals and obtaining agreement both internally and with customers.
- Working with the legal resource to translate customer agreements into contracts / heads of agreement etc as required.
- Traveling both locally and into Africa when required to do so.
Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
