The best stage is early stage, right?

Is this you?
You are an entrepreneurial thinker and are able to take charge of all project development activities, possibly even further. You are effective, efficient and action orientated in everything that you do. Working closely with and supporting the project team during auctions and sales, working toward the bigger picture, excites you. You are the master at identifying new project sites and thrive (always getting your way) when it comes to negotiating with landowners.

What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)
This role is really exciting as it’s a 360 role in the project development space where you get involved in the full development lifecycle from early stage development up until financial close. You will be involved in managing both wind and solar projects from site acquisitions, planning, engineering, financing and ultimately to construction. The project acquisition phases due diligence will be managed by you and you will check network access options, evaluating them from different perspectives. External providers and local partners will be instructed and coordinated by you as well. You enjoy networking, having a chat here and there naturally bringing business on board to support the business development team.

Where you’ll be doing it
With nearly 30 years’ experience, you will join an international organisation with over 600 employees world-wide. The Cape Town branch is made up of a team of dedicated professionals with a passion for what they do.

What you’ll need
To qualify for this job opportunity, you firstly come from the renewable energy sector and secondly have at least 5 years early development phase project development experience to offer. We need a guru here. A degree in engineering will compliment this role however other relevant tertiary qualifications such as geography or an environmental qualification will still be considered. More than 8 years demonstrated project development experience is essential with an emphasis on early development stage e.g. permitting, negotiating lease agreements etc.

What you’ll get
You will benefit from a flat hierarchy where quick decision making is the norm compared to their international counterparts. Alongside this you will experience a culture that is friendly and fair with an open door policy. A market related salary is offered, determined by experience and qualifications offered, combined with international training (post COVID of course).
