We are looking for someone who will be able to fulfill the following requirements:

Tax compliance and risk management

  • Ensure all the companies in the Group (i.e. South Africa and African operations) are compliant with all tax legislation and ensure a proactive process to monitoring proposed future tax legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Reporting on any key risks identified surrounding legislative changes and providing solutions to mitigate the risk.

Tax governance framework

  • Develop and implement tax policies and procedures for the management of tax across the Group.
  • Ensure that the policies are adhered to.

Business focus

  • Effective and efficient Tax administration
  • Advise management on the effects of taxes on business transactions

Relationship management

  • Work closely with Revenue Authorities & the tax advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency in Tax administration
  • Ensure that the relationships with various internal and external stakeholders are strong and transparent specifically:
  • Tax advisors
  • Tax administration
  • External auditors
  • Compliance/Legal staff
  • Business unit leaders

Responsible, accurate and efficient tax administration processes such as:

  • Tax Returns are completed accurately and timely
  • Managing regulatory authorities’ requests for information.
  • Timely communication with financial managers and the finance team regarding queries and accounting entries and adjustments.
  • Reconciliation of statement of accounts to tax accounted for.

The successful candidate should have:

  • HDip Tax or CA (SA)
  • 4 to 7 years’ experience in corporate tax.
  • 2 to 3 years exposure to working with tax legislation in African countries outside of South Africa is advantageous but not essential.
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Experience in Financial Services is preferred
  • Good communication and writing skills.
