Our client, a leader in road construction, seeks to employ a high energy, well qualified and experienced BEE candidate for their operation in Jacobs, but who will manage procurement and purchasing for the entire group nationally, however the core of this role will be to procure materials used in Road Construction.
The role is not at management level; however, the position does include aspects of needing to have experience at specialist level and only candidates who have worked in a Civil Or Construction sector, procuring road construction materials will be considered.
- You will have a tertiary qualification in Purchasing or Supply Chain or alternatively, a Quantity Surveying Diploma , coupled with 5 – 10 years’ experience in the purchasing and planning of materials and components used in Road construction, such as aggregates, asphalt, etc
- You will have prior experience in working closely with the Estimating and Tender/Bid specialists, to ensure your planning, procurement and pricing is in line with tenders and bids.
- You will have proven experience in dealing with all import and export policies and procedures, coupled with management of supplier relations both locally and abroad, as well as ensuring BBBEE ratings are uplifted and maintained through supplier ratings.
- You will also have proven experience in negotiating terms and conditions with new suppliers, vetting suppliers for best prices and tenders and track/report on supplier performance and effectively manage supplier delivery to minimize and eliminate downtime in production.
- You will have advanced Excel, as well as extensive experience using an MRP/ERP system.
- You must be able to travel occasionally and be flexible to work extended hours when required prior to projects.
