The main purpose of this position is to utilise the required skills set to effectively coordinate all objectives relating to the Mechanical requirements in the organisation’s support structure. Must have strong administration and must understand HVAC.

DUTIES:

  • Coordinate, monitor and improve field service activities of the Technical Service Team who install, repair and maintain all types of mechanical units.
  • Monitor key performance matrix, including labour productivity and client satisfaction.
  • Establish and communicate work schedules. Verify that schedules satisfy daily, and long-term requirements and priorities are properly identified.
  • Evaluate workload and schedule services in a way that best utilises manpower, reduces costs and maximises client satisfaction.
  • Identify and escalate all critical issues that threaten the successful execution of work orders to meet completion deadlines.
  • Assist the team in achieving overall area targets.
  • Ensure that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with stated procedures.
  • Work closely with the team to provide technical support and resolve issues timeously.
  • Establish client satisfaction matrix.
  • Complete work management reports to communicate status to the Management Team.
  • Work collaterally and cross-functionally in achieving goals.
  • Anticipate and adopt innovations (smart) in building digital and technology applications.
  • Develop quality standards (QA/QC) for the mechanical scope.
  • Promote, support and create safe work practices and procedures.
  • Perform site inspections to ensure general conformance and quality of the installations, and to verify schedule progress.
  • Co-ordinate all facets of project close-out, including commissioning, operation and maintenance manuals, spare part inventory, deficiencies and warranty work.
  • Expedite corrective action snag lists and verify all items have been corrected prior to re-inspection.
  • Look for and implement continuous improvement practices for future projects.
  • Handle difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual.
  • Communicate goals and key initiatives to improve department’s performance and success.
  • Interface with department head to control operating costs.
  • Monitor service vehicles to ensure they are properly equipped, and an adequate inventory of parts, equipment and materials are maintained in order for technicians to work efficiently out of the vehicles.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow safety procedures and wear protective clothing when on site.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Matric and a relevant tertiary qualification – Technical qualifications.
  • Field experience and a good knowledge of HVAC Systems, including Chiller Systems.
  • Current valid Driver’s Licence.
