Our Client, within the manufacturing industry seeks to appoint a Logistics Co Ordinator, to join their team in Durban. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the daily planning, picking, stock preparation, vehicle loading and on time delivery of orders and quality product to customers.

Key Duties

  • Activate logistics “open up and close” process and check lists. Implement the necessary management processes to maintain high levels of cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping.
  • Devise ways to improve packing, palletizing and goods in transit process to maintain high quality product and limit damages.
  • Identify process bottlenecks – communicate, problem solve and implement innovative solutions.
  • Ensure measurement parameters and costs are effectively managed and aligned with business cost control targets. This includes proactive initiatives that positively impact on these targets.
  • Supervise logistics, warehouse, transportation, and the customer services aspect of delivery staff. Ensure vehicles are dispatched without delay and ensure redeliveries are kept to a minimum.
  • Ensure all operations adhere to laws, guidelines, and ISO requirements. Complying with Department of Transport laws and regulations. Registering and licensing all vehicles and drivers under their management. Keep accurate documentation and perform information analysis and feedback.
  • Monitor and evaluate control sheet to track performance and implement effective improvements. Analysing the data to increase business and cost efficiency. Develop efficient driver delivery routes to reduce overtime, increase fuel efficiency and reduce additional expenses.
  • Perform a thorough route cause analysis on all NCR’s and thoroughly communicate to direct imports. Use route cause analysis to perform continuous improvement that better aligns to customer requirements.
  • Ensure measurement parameters and costs are effectively managed and aligned with business cost control targets. This includes proactive initiatives that positively impact on these targets.
  • Plan delivery routes. Working closely with internal sales and production to align logistics planning with company procedures, operations, and customer service goals.
  • Managing drivers so they adhere to strict schedules and delivery fulfilment. Monitoring driver behaviour and ensuring a high level of customer service. Conduct daily alcohol testing in line with company procedures.
  • Utilizing GPS systems to monitor drivers and track vehicles in case of theft or the abuse of company assets.

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the logistics industry with a clear track record of stock preparation loading vehicles and debriefing –
  • Tertiary qualification in logistics or supply chain would be an advantage –
