A well-known and established international company specialising in the Food ingredient Manufacturing industry requires the above to manage and lead the South African buying resource for direct category and raw materials to ensure a consistent, strategic focus on these critical spend areas.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Tertiary qual – Degree or Btech or related in either supply chain or industrial engineering or related qual is essential.
- Previous experience having worked in a Procurement Management role with demonstrable results in complex buying working within a food or related manufacturing environment is essential.
- Previous experience having managed and led a procurement department with the ability to manage cross functional relationships.
- Previous category management experience preferable.
- Must be proficient in the use of SAP and or related ERP system as well as Microsoft applications.
- Must have strong leadership, resilience, knowledge and commercial know-how to be able to lead from the front.
- Need to be able to take ownership and work independently.
- Person must have good business acumen.
- Good understanding of product costing is pref.
- The successful candidate must be analytical with a strong understanding of inventory and supply chain modelling from end to end.
- Must have excellent excel skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Manage / lead the South African buying resource for direct category/ raw materials to ensure a consistent, strategic focus on these critical spend areas.
- Responsible for all procurement categories for this food manufacturing company.
- Within sub categories of spend, recommend strategic choices and assess long-term risks and opportunities.
- Manage a team of procurement Staff to ensure effective execution of the companies’ objectives across the spend pool, linking in with colleagues in other locations to ensue global scale is effectively leveraged, including innovation and NPD.
- Coordinate and work closely with Supply Chain teams to ensure strategies are aligned and effectively executed.
- Accountable for selecting Suppliers and determining prices and contracts, in line with delegation of authority guidelines and ensuring correct sign off procedures.
- Support a range of EMEA cross-functional project teams strategically to manage and drive costs, quality and service optimisations, value improvement and innovation development.
- Recommend and influence choices around business partners building long-term sourcing strategies in order to secure supply, creating long term cost optimization and develop market knowledge.
- Take costs out of the value chain as well as influence costs delivering a saving.
