Mechanical Engineer – Product Industrialization
Location: Pretoria
Position Overview:
The main purpose of this role is to lead on Design for Manufacturability, Assembly and Support (DFMAS) team.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Assist team members and project managers to identify, scope and plan activities.
- Guide and execute activities with the primary focus on Design influence for DFMAS and the Establishment of Production and Support Baselines and Facilities.
- Perform DFMAS analysis and reviews in collaboration with Design Engineers. Develop requirements for Assembly Line Design and Facility layout.
- To develop production aid documentation i.e., Facility specifications and build to-, test to-, calibrate to-, train to-, QC to-, documents, and material.
- Lead assembly line commissioning, hand-over and acceptance.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering
- DFMA short course will be an advantage
- At least 8 – 10 years’ experience in Product design and development (Electro-optical-mechanical products)
- Solid experience in DFM applied tools, techniques and principles, design and cost optimization, manufacturing technologies and supplier development
- Solid experience in System Life Cycle Design and Requirement-setting
- Experience in Industrialization of own designs
- Experience in assembly line technical support for own designs
- Lead Design Engineers to perform Process FMECA for assembly and test
- Mechanical Design for new product development based on system engineering and system acquisition principles
