We are looking for an experienced Technician who can lead a team of Riggers in varied activities on sites.
The successful Candidate will be someone based in and around Cape Town and a team leader as well as a team player who can lead and effeciently complete various job duties at elevated heights with supervision. The ideal candidate will also have working knowledge of telecommunication construction and be familiar with networking principles,Ethernet standards,Power stations, and cable testing.
Main duties include, leading a team of riggers for Telecom/Civil activities on sites; Climbing ladders and towers safely and effeciently; Erect telecommunication tower components using cables,ropes,pulleys and other equipment.
Ultimately the Technician must have sufficient understanding of the instructions of the work order and plans, in order to effectively and safely lead the team.
Responsibilities:
- Installation of cables,antennas,microwave dishes and other communications equipment
- Install pinwheels,structural steel,cable tray,conduits,antenna mounts,antennas,transmission lines and ancillary equipment on communication towers
- Remove,Install,and Repair aerial telecommunication transmission and distribution antenna,equipment,and associated hardware
- Remove,Install, and Repair various types and sizes of telecommunication cables and lines including fiber optic,coaxial and DC Power
- Understand and strictly adhere to safety practices and guidelines
- Perform various Audits and tests, upgrade and maintenance when required
- Perform repairs and emergency repairs, restore services when required
- Understand instructions to the work order and plans
- Apply the rules of Health and Safety at work
- Utilize winches and capstan to move loads as required
- Understand and strictly adhere to established clients and customer quality requirements without deviation
- Other duties as assigned by team leader
Requirements:
- Must successfully complete the companies tower training program at required level
- Must be able to work outside of normal business hours(i.e, shift work), to include nights and weekends,if needed
- Self-starter with desire and ability to learn and retain knowledge
- Must be a team player
- Effective written and Verbal communication skills in English language for safety reasons
- Ability to exercise flexibility in challenging and/or perplexing situations
- Ability to maintain composure in stressful and demanding work enviroment
- Knowledge of networking principles,Ethernet standards,power systems, and cable testing
- Working knowledge of telecommunication construction
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions
Qualifications,experence and Licensing Requirements:
- Electric Engineering
- Trade Test
- Working on Heights Certificate
- HIRA certificate
- Valid Medicals
- Valid Drivers License
- Valid ID/Passport/Work Permit
- Previous Ericsson Experience is an advantage
