What you’ll be doing (and why you’ll enjoy it)
As a preferred bidder in the risk mitigation IPP procurement program this position has stemmed from that. In this position you will make sure that the design is executed in accordance with the contracts that are in place. Not to mention the project specifications and of course is compliant with good construction practices, rules and standards. You are at the Centre of key decisions related to the execution of work packages especially when it comes to engineering and design aspects. You will be leading and demonstrating your ability to manage people from all types of field expertise, they can’t pull the wool over your eyes.
Where you’ll be doing it
You will be joining an international IPP with expertise in different renewable energy technologies. Alongside this organisation, you be in the forefront of green energy for South Africa and Africa. You will enjoy a small local team, tightly knit and supportive of each other.
What you’ll need
Let’s start with a strong understanding of the technical and commercial challenges of utility scale power projects. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering would be great. Hybrid project experience with the combination of Solar PV, Battery Storage and Wind energy. We know there aren’t many out there with this combination but perhaps a combination of at least 2 of these would also be considered. You will oversee all disciplines; mechanical, electrical, I&C and civil engineering so experience supervising and reporting on all technical design and engineering activities is important. You have been there done that, 15 years of it to give you an indication. Designing and engineering in the energy sector here in South Africa. Experience managing complex multidisciplinary power generation projects that include wind, Solar PV and BESS will have you being considered.
