The anticipated return of DevConf, a conference dedicated to South African developers, means that once again software developers can gather in person to network, and be inspired by a range of topics applicable to software development.

Run as a virtual event in 2020, DevConf’s founders are taking last year’s lessons and creating a hybrid approach that combines the best of in-person events with a virtual element that allows anyone in the country to benefit from the world-class speakers, discussions, and presentations on offer at DevConf 2022.

“DevConf is back, and we are so excited,” says DevConf host Candice Herodotou. “Running DevConf in 2020 as a virtual event was incredible considering the constraints at the time, but we really missed seeing everyone in person. That has always been the special thing about DevConf- it is a reunion of software developers, and now with our hybrid approach, we can connect with developers located anywhere in South Africa.”

Entering its sixth year in April 2022, the annual, community-driven, one-day conference is technology agnostic, providing professional software developers with a buffet of tools, practices, and principles applicable to tackling current and future challenges in the South African software development environment. It is an event where attendees can learn, network, and innovate, regardless of their specific technology stack and programming language of choice.

DevConf founder and host Robert MacLean says: “With our hybrid offering in 2022 we want to give developers the opportunity to be involved in any way they want to be involved. We want people to feel as comfortable and special as they have every year.”

Live events will take place on 5 April in Cape Town, and on 7 April in Johannesburg. Johannesburg’s hybrid event will include a virtual streaming option.
