The role of a System Application Engineer is to support the execution of projects. Depending on the specific circumstance, this support could entail procurement of goods, engineering of solutions, and commissioning of systems.
A System Application Engineer is a key participant in delivery teams on large projects, but from time to time has to work autonomously to deliver smaller projects. The role requires a high degree of professionalism at all times, and adherence to company policies and procedures, specifically relating to the management of quality, and safe working practices.
Core duties include:
- Assist with the design of small, medium and large integrated process-control systems, by doing conceptual and detailed engineering design in support of solutions being supplied to our customers.
- Use best practices for automating industrial processes, from basic process measurement, through to control-room design, and ultimately integration with plant management information systems.
- Assist with testing solutions ahead of deployment on customer sites.
- Prepare for, and assist with the commissioning of systems on customer sites.
- Do basic design reviews, and send the required requests for clarification (RFCs) and requests for information (RFI).
- Perform resource management, quality management, and scope management.
- Manage commissioning activities.
- Design HMI hardware and system architecture, and do basic engineering on process control system (PCS) hardware and software.
- Understand and develop safety application requirements (SAR) for software.
- Develop the software detailed design specification (DDS)
- Understand and develop SAR for hardware, and hardware DDS.
- Develop libraries and control modules, configure hardware, and configure system settings.
- Be safety-system trained and aware.
- Perform all acceptance test (FAT) procedures related to control network and HMI hardware.
- Perform all control-narrative checks to client requirements, all PCS quality checks.
- Complete internal FAT quality-control check list (QCCL) audit template.
- Perform all FAT procedures related to control network and HMI hardware.
- Perform control-narrative checks to client requirements, all PCS quality checks.
- Complete internal FAT QCCL audit template.
- Assist with all cold-commissioning activities.
- Perform all narrative tests according to accepted and tested narratives.
- Clear items that have been assigned for resolution.
- Complete the project-handover QCCL to check and ensure all Moore deliverables have been completed for client delivery.
- Complete the project sign-off quality control documentation.
