Gijima Staffing Solutions is responding to a tender: We are seeking a Technology Architect who will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing technology infrastructure solutions aligned with the university’s goals. The role requires a strong grasp of technology trends, the ability to build scalable and sustainable solutions, and a solid foundation in architecture frameworks and tools.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Strategy & Architecture Design:Design and implement a cohesive technology architecture roadmap to align with the university’s strategic goals, supporting both current needs and future growth.
  • Infrastructure & Application Integration:Ensure seamless integration of new technologies with existing infrastructure. Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems and ensure scalability.
  • Cloud Computing & Virtualization:Evaluate, recommend, and implement cloud-based solutions and services (e.g., AWS, Azure) to enhance operational efficiency and support a hybrid or multi-cloud environment.
  • Security & Compliance:Collaborate with IT security teams to ensure that architecture solutions adhere to cybersecurity best practices and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, POPIA). Lead efforts to incorporate secure design principles into all aspects of IT.
  • System Performance & Optimization:Continuously monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability and performance of IT services, ensuring optimal use of resources.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders:Work closely with faculty, administration, and the broader IT team to gather requirements, deliver technical solutions, and manage expectations. Provide technical leadership and guidance to development and infrastructure teams.
  • Documentation & Standards:Develop and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).
  • Technology Assessment & Vendor Management:Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and vendors for their potential to address business challenges. Manage relationships with external technology providers and vendors.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage.
    • Relevant certifications in architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, AWS/Azure certifications).

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Technology Architect or in a similar role, with proven experience in designing and implementing complex technology solutions.

  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman, etc.).
    • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Deep understanding of networking, virtualization, and cloud infrastructure.
    • Proficient in system integration, middleware technologies, and API management.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and technologies.
    • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker).

  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders.
    • Leadership and mentoring skills.
