Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Project Manager with 5+ years of experience to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the planning, execution, and delivery of technical projects within the banking sector, ensuring alignment with data competency, compliance, and risk management requirements. This role demands a strong background in project management, technical leadership, and a deep understanding of the banking industry’s regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead end-to-end technical projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while managing changes and risks effectively.
  • Data Competency: Oversee projects related to data management, governance, and analytics, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure that all projects adhere to banking regulations, compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, POPIA), and internal risk management protocols.
  • Stakeholder Management: Engage with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party vendors to ensure clear communication, proper requirements gathering, and smooth execution.
  • Technical Leadership: Work closely with developers, architects, and IT teams to ensure the successful implementation of technical solutions and frameworks.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Stay informed about industry-specific regulatory updates and compliance requirements, translating these into project objectives and deliverables.
  • Resource Planning: Allocate resources, track project performance, and manage internal and external dependencies.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively identify potential project risks related to data security, compliance, and technical delivery, developing mitigation strategies where necessary.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and project documentation for senior management and stakeholders.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems,
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Proven experience managing technical projects related to data management, analytics, and system implementation.
  • Compliance & Risk: In-depth understanding of compliance requirements such as GDPR, AML, Basel III, or similar, and experience with risk management in a regulated environment.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong experience with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities, with an emphasis on data-driven decision-making.
  • Business Management, or a related field. PMP or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and data governance
  • Previous experience managing projects involving big data and machine learning is a plus.
  • Familiarity with banking software systems and regulatory reporting tools.
  • Certification in Agile (Scrum Master, Product Owner) or other relevant certifications.
