We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst with 3-5 years of experience to join our team in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics, coding in SQL and R, and experience with process improvement. Roles and responsibilities:

  • Analyse large datasets to provide actionable insights to stakeholders across various departments.
  • Develop and implement data models, reports, and dashboards to support business decision-making.
  • Use SQL and R to extract, manipulate, and analyse data from multiple sources.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data to help improve business processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide technical support.
  • Present findings to management and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and quality in all analytical work.
  • Participate in process automation and optimization initiatives.
  • Prepare and clean raw data for analysis, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Create and maintain datasets required for specific analysis or reporting purposes.
  • Perform statistical analysis to identify key trends and correlations in datasets.
  • Use statistical methods to support business decision-making and validate data models.
  • Build interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools like Power BI, Tableau, or custom-built solutions in R/SQL.
  • Continuously monitor and improve the visual presentation of data to optimize its usefulness.
  • Ensure data governance standards are followed, including data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Implement processes to ensure high data quality and data standardization across the organization
  • Use data analytics to identify inefficiencies in business processes and recommend changes to improve operational performance.
  • Participate in process automation initiatives, using data to help streamline operations.
  • Apply forecasting techniques and predictive models to provide future trends and outcomes, supporting strategic planning.
  • Regularly assess the performance of models and refine them based on new data.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data analysis or a related role.
  • Proficient in SQL and R for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of data processes, pipelines, and data governance.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is an advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex data findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with additional programming languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis techniques.
