Vox has announced that it is adding end-point security to its suite of solutions for domestic customers.
Recently, Interpol announced that cybercrime cost the South African economy R2,2-billion. While this figure largely points to attacks on organisations, it would be naive to think households are immune, says Audrey Vadival, head of security and value-added services at Vox.
She says that households have a variety of devices, and both parents and children become vulnerable as soon as they connect to the internet.
“Given the growing prevalence of modern day online threats, especially in South Africa, we wanted to find a way to help households protect themselves. To this end, Vox has partnered with Norton, a global leader in cyber security which has family-oriented digital safety and parental control products,” she says.
“Our partnership with Vox ensures seamless integration and a simplified purchasing process through our voucher-based redemption system, making cybersecurity more accessible and hassle-free for customers,” says Simon Campbell-Young, co-founder of Digimune.
Norton 360 is an impressive security suite, with various options covering different numbers of devices, including Norton Family parental controls. Functionality includes things such as screen time management, web filtering and location tracking of children’s devices. “With prices ranging from about R31per offering, the product makes a safer home online environment accessible to more people,” says Vadival.
Vadival explains that Vox partnered with Norton to offer its cybersecurity products as part of Vox’s business’s fibre internet packages. “Norton 360 is a comprehensive cybersecurity product that is available in three-device, five-device and 10-device plans. It offers ransomware protection, as well as other security features,” she says.
A growing concern among parents centres on the risks their children face while using the internet, ranging from unrestricted content, to far too much time being spent online, to malicious actors seeking to breach devices. “Norton Family is a great product with effective parental controls. Its features include screen time management – anyone with children will understand the importance of this – as well as site blocking capabilities. There is also GPS tracking of children’s locations with the ability to set schedules for when children need to be at certain locations, such as school, and alerts when this is not the case.”
