We are looking for a highly skilled and self-driven Database Migration Engineer (MS SQL Server) with extensive experience in large-scale cloud migrations to AWS. You will be a key player in transforming legacy systems by migrating mission-critical databases to RDS and EC2 environments. Key Responsibilities:
· Lead and execute large-scale SQL Server database migrations from on-prem to AWS RDS and EC2 environments.
· Develop, enhance, and follow structured migration runbooks to ensure seamless transitions.
· Write and optimize T-SQL scripts for data transformation, performance tuning, and validation.
· Perform pre-migration assessments, data mapping, backup/restore strategies, and post-migration verification.
· Ensure data integrity, uptime, and security during and after migration in regulated/production environments.
· Proactively identify and resolve performance, reliability, and compatibility issues during migrations.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams including application developers, cloud engineers, and security to align on delivery timelines and migration best practices.
· Provide clear documentation for all migration activities, tooling, and processes.
· Operate independently, with autonomy and accountability for successful delivery.
Requirements· 5+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012+)
· Proven experience with large-scale SQL Server migrations to AWS (RDS and EC2).
· Deep understanding of cloud data platforms, especially AWS Database Services.
· Proficient in writing complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and data migration scripts.
· Understanding of security best practices in data handling and migration.
· Experience working in regulated and mission-critical environments.
· Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical and analytical mindset.
· Ability to work independently and lead migration projects end-to-end.
