The Senior Systems Analyst is responsible for converting large-scale business initiatives into world-class IT solutions. This role focuses on complex projects or programmes that may span across teams or business units, and may also involve smaller initiatives as needed. The incumbent must have deep domain expertise in systems analysis, ideally within the relevant industry, and may be required to mentor and guide junior analysts.
Senior Systems Analyst – 12 Month Contract
Project & Technical Analysis
- Analyse and design functionalities or upgrades, particularly those of greater complexity.
- Facilitate design sessions to develop functional/system specifications.
- Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with system architects and developers to design:
- Integration files or messages (e.g., web services, XML, flat files, APIs)
- System configurations (excluding production environments)
- SQL queries and database structures
Process & Requirements Analysis
- Analyse and document current system process flows.
- Propose cost-effective, feasible solutions aligned to business objectives.
- Model system behaviour and structure using UML 2.5 and ERDs.
- Assist in system screen design or collaborate with UX specialists.
- Translate business requirements or user stories into functional/system documentation.
- Run analysis end-to-end where requirements are not pre-defined.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Interface with architects, QA, product owners, analysts, strategists, and vendors.
- Work with cross-functional project team members and external/internal stakeholders.
- Review test cases and validate system outcomes against requirements.
Agile & Continuous Delivery
- Participate in Agile environments with frequent deployments (monthly or more).
- Actively contribute to daily stand-ups and the Systems Analyst Community of Practice.
- Perform sanity/acceptance testing to validate solution delivery.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Lead systems analysis efforts at the programme/project level.
- Mentor and support the development of junior analysts.
Domain Expertise: Cross-Border Payments & Finsurv
- Solid experience with cross-border payment platforms, including SWIFT.
- Familiarity with ISO20022 standards (PAIN, PACS, CAMT) and SWIFT MT series.
- Understanding of SAMOS, RTGS, and other cross-border market infrastructures.
- Up-to-date knowledge of payment modernisation and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in Finsurv, Balance of Payments reporting, and exchange control.
- Exposure to SARB integrations and Forex systems.
General Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in IT, Business Systems or a related field.
- CBAP certification preferred.
Experience
- 10+ years of relevant systems analysis experience.
- 4-5 years of domain experience in Payments and Forex.
- Proficiency in UML and Use Case development.
- Knowledge of Forex IT infrastructure and incident/change management.
