Purpose of the Role
We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to manage and optimise the organisation’s databases, ensuring their reliability, performance, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This role requires a strong understanding of database technologies, security, and performance tuning, with the ability to support both on-premises and cloud environments.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or an NQF Level 7 equivalent.
Minimum Experience Required (Unless Stated Otherwise):
- 3+ years in user support.
- 3+ years in database installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- 3+ years in backup and recovery management.
- 3+ years in database programming (T-SQL).
- 3+ years in database performance tuning and optimisation.
- 3+ years in database security implementation.
- 1+ year in data migration and integration.
- 1+ year in capacity planning and forecasting.
- 1+ year in technical writing and documentation.
Knowledge Areas:
- Data compliance and regulations (e.g. POPIA).
- Data governance principles and practices.
- Project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of data lake administration (advantageous).
- Experience with cloud-based database systems (advantageous).
