Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 2nd & 3rd line application support for transactional banking systems
- Support Host-to-Host (H2H), APIs, online banking and internal banking platforms
- Incident, problem, and change management (including war rooms for major incidents)
- Root cause analysis, system debugging, and defect tracking (JIRA)
- UAT, QA testing, release validation and post-implementation support
- Stakeholder management across business, IT, risk, compliance, and clients
- SLA management and client communication during outages
- Risk, audit, and compliance adherence (POPIA, internal controls)
- Process documentation, reporting, and knowledge sharing
- Participation in projects, regulatory changes, and system enhancements
Technical Skills
- Application support experience in banking / financial services
- Strong understanding of Transactional Banking systems
- Host-to-Host (H2H) channel support (including APIs)
- SQL skills for log analysis, data extraction, and troubleshooting
- Log reading & diagnostics (e.g. SQL logs, Graylog, Syslog, network/firewall logs)
- Incident & problem management (2nd / 3rd line support)
- UAT & functional testing experience
- Understanding of financial flows through banking systems
- Ability to work with large data sets and interpret system behavior
- Change and release management support
Business & Domain Skills
- Working knowledge of banking products and channels
- Understanding of risk management, audit, and compliance
- Knowledge of regulatory environments impacting banking
- Ability to assess client impact and business risk during incidents
- Strong documentation and reporting capability
