As part of his divorce settlement, Bill Gates has paid almost $8-billion Melinda French Gates’s private foundation.
The payment is one of the largest charitable contributions ever recorded.
The $7,88-billion was paid to the relatively new Pivotal Philanthropies Foundation set up by French Gates.
This followed the announcement in May 2025 that she would resign as co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
At that time French Gates said Bill Gates had agreed to commit $12,5-billion to her foundation on behalf of women and families.
