Purpose of the Role
The Solution Architect is responsible for developing and governing technology architecture within a defined portfolio, ensuring alignment with the broader Enterprise Architecture. Working closely with the Enterprise Architect, Portfolio Manager, and Functional Heads, the role ensures that solution design and delivery are integrated, coherent, and aligned to business needs throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with key stakeholders across the project lifecycle to ensure solutions deliver business value
- Develop and implement architectural and design strategies within the portfolio
- Oversee all systems and solution design activities within the portfolio
- Build and maintain strong relationships across technology teams to ensure integrated outcomes
- Develop and maintain a portfolio business capability map aligned to the enterprise capability framework
- Support the development of reference architectures that deliver required capabilities at optimal cost and flexibility
- Collaborate with functional heads to roadmap the implementation of reference architectures
- Perform ad hoc duties as required
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Commerce, or a related field
- Recognised architecture qualification (e.g. TOGAF certification)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology design and implementation
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Solution Architect role
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture within a retail environment
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and architecture governance
- Proven experience in digital strategy, IT operations, and governance
- Strong knowledge of data platforms, data governance tools, and enterprise architecture principles
