The Solution Architect is responsible for designing and governing technology architectures within a defined portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and business objectives. Working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Portfolio Management, and Functional Heads, the role ensures that solution designs deliver business value through integrated, scalable, and coherent technology outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders across the full project lifecycle
- Ensure solution architecture and design align with business needs and enterprise standards
- Implement architectural principles, standards, and methodologies within the portfolio
- Oversee systems and solution design to ensure integration and coherence
- Build and maintain portfolio-level business capability maps
- Support the development and implementation of reference and target architectures
- Collaborate with functional leaders to roadmap architecture implementation
- Foster strong cross-functional relationships to support integrated delivery
- Perform ad hoc duties as required
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Commerce, or related field
- Recognised architecture qualification (e.g. TOGAF certification)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology design and implementation
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Solution Architect role
- Experience in Enterprise Architecture within a retail environment preferred
- Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies and governance frameworks
- Proficiency in digital strategy, IT operations, and architecture governance
- Strong knowledge of data platforms, data governance, and enterprise architecture principles
