A premier residential graduate institute for mathematical sciences are seeking a Systems Administrator to manage and optimize their physical and virtual infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair server and networking hardware/software; manage ZFS storage and backups.
- Networking: Design and implement networking solutions including VPNs, VLANs, and wireless access points.
- Virtualization & Config: Deploy and maintain KVM virtual machines and LXC/LXD containers; utilize configuration management tools.
- Cloud Administration: Manage Google Workspace (Users, Groups, Drive, Sites).
- Technical Support: Provide Tier 1 support for lecturers and staff regarding networking and server software.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of network architecture, server configurations, and software deployments.
Minimum Requirements:
- Linux Expertise: Strong proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Core Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and OpenVPN.
- Certifications: CompTIA Network+, MikroTik training, or equivalent professional experience.
- Advanced Networking: Experience with Radius/Eduroam, VXLAN, and NFS.
- Server Software: Familiarity with Apache, LDAP, Samba, and CUPS.
- DevOps/Scripting: Proficiency in Shell or Python scripting for automation.
- Platform Experience: Prior administration of Google Workspace and ZFS storage.
