Role Overview
NEC XON is seeking a highly capable Senior Systems Engineer – Infrastructure Operations to support a large-scale Global Retail Services Project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise infrastructure environments, ensuring high availability, stability, and performance across virtualised and Linux-based systems.
This role is hands-on and operational, focused on day-to-day infrastructure support, incident resolution, system maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise platforms rather than solution architecture or design.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise virtualisation environments, primarily VMware.
- Manage and maintain Linux-based infrastructure environments.
- Support backup, replication, and disaster recovery solutions, including Zerto and Commvault.
- Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management.
- Execute patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of infrastructure systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure incidents and service disruptions.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem management.
- Ensure systems operate in accordance with security and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, and project teams to ensure stable and reliable platform operations.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and automation of operational processes where applicable.
Minimum Requirements
- 6+ years experience in enterprise infrastructure or systems engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware virtualisation platforms.
- Solid experience administering Linux environments (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu or similar).
- Experience supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and infrastructure support skills in large enterprise environments.
- Experience working in operational / production infrastructure environments.
Advantageous Skills
- Experience with Zerto replication and disaster recovery solutions.
- Experience with Commvault backup and data management platforms.
- Exposure to hybrid infrastructure environments.
- Experience with automation or scripting (Bash, Python or Ansible).
- Relevant certifications such as:
- VMware certifications (VCP)
- Red Hat certifications (RHCSA / RHCE)
- Commvault or Zerto certifications.
