Our client is seeking an experienced PHP Developer to take ownership of a well-established software platform that plays a critical role within its Revenue Systems division. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who enjoys working with mature production systems, gaining deep technical ownership, and driving the ongoing evolution of a platform used by a growing customer base.
The successful candidate will initially focus on knowledge transfer and understanding the existing environment before becoming the internal technical authority responsible for future enhancements, maintenance, and long-term platform development.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a mature PHP-based software platform
- Participate in structured knowledge transfer from an external development partner
- Maintain, support, and optimise existing production systems
- Develop new features and enhancements aligned with business requirements
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems and APIs
- Ensure software reliability, scalability, and performance
- Contribute to architectural decisions and platform improvements
- Collaborate with stakeholders across technical and operational teams
- Support best practices in software development, testing, and deployment
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of commercial PHP development experience
- Strong proficiency in PHP 8.0 or later
- Experience with Laravel and/or Symfony
- Experience maintaining and improving legacy and custom PHP applications
- Strong MySQL and/or PostgreSQL database experience
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, API Keys, and secure integration practices
- Experience with Git version control and CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
