They are seeking an experienced Software Developer who is passionate about teaching and mentoring to take ownership of the delivery of a QCTO-accredited Occupational Certificate: Software Developer (NQF Level 5). This role combines practical software development expertise with facilitation, curriculum development and student support. This is a hybrid working arrangement with virtual and Stellenbosch-based.

Responsibilities:

Teaching & Facilitation

  • Design and deliver engaging live lectures covering both software development theory and practical coding.
  • Facilitate learning in a hybrid environment, including virtual and in-person sessions.
  • Explain complex technical concepts clearly and practically.
  • Provide tutoring, guidance and mentorship to students throughout the programme.
  • Create a supportive learning environment that encourages student development and success.

Course & Assessment Development

  • Develop course materials aligned with programme learning outcomes and current industry practices.
  • Design assessments and practical activities to evaluate student competence.
  • Assess student work and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of the programme curriculum.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Provide practical software development expertise across the programme.
  • Ensure teaching content remains relevant to current industry technologies and practices.
  • Bring real-world development experience into the classroom.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Work with the executive team on quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to quarterly reporting and programme monitoring.
  • Support regulatory and QCTO compliance requirements.
  • Maintain appropriate academic and assessment standards.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or qualification in Software Development, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Practical industry experience in software development.
