Telkom has issued a warning to the public of a hoax advertisement claiming that Telkom is looking to hire call centre agents. The bogus advertisement was sent through SMS, e-mail and social media channels such as WhatsApp and BBM.
“We want to remind customers and the broader public to be extremely vigilant and wary in order to avoid becoming victims of fraudsters,” says Thami Msubo, chief of HR at Telkom.
This advert is not an official Telkom advert and the company is not looking to hire call centre agents at this time. All Telkom employment advertisements are posted on the official Telkom Web site.
“Should the public be suspicious about anything, they can call the Telkom fraud hotline on 0860 124 000 or their nearest police station to report their suspicions,” says Msubo.
