Minopex, a leading exponent in outsourced operation and maintenance of minerals and metals processing plants, recently installed Panda Cloud Systems Management (PCSM) as its IT management solution of choice.
Prior to the adoption of PCSM, the company’s IT management team – Shape Technology Management (Shape) – faced a number of challenges, among them Minopex’s widely distributed employee network operating a large variety of devices.
Software, hardware and site audits were manually conducted, taking up to five months to complete, according to Phillip Abrie, ICT manager for Shape.
Not only was maintenance of the system costly in terms of travel expenses and employee downtime but it was time-consuming and inefficient since information needed to be collected individually from more than 500 machines (and some 150 laptops).
The main requirements from a device management perspective were:
* To reduce the number of management applications;
* To simplify the audit process;
* To provide effective remote management; and
* To ensure endpoint protection for different devices.
To this end, Panda’s longstanding Reseller Partner, Shape Technology Management (Shape), was able to recommend the ideal solution – PCSM.
“PCSM provides a valuable addition to the existing security solutions (Panda Cloud Office Protection (PCOP) and PCOP Advanced), with the same style of intuitive interface,” asserts Abrie.
Accessible through the Panda Cloud Partner Center, a one-stop console enabling management (PCSM) and security (PCOP) of each client’s IT infrastructure, it provided Shape with the ideal tool for managing its customer.
With PCSM, Shape is able to perform audits, make diagnoses and resolve incidents wherever and whenever they occur and in a non-intrusive manner, thus permitting Minopex to focus on its core business.
“Thanks to the installation of PCSM, maintenance of the system is now minimal,” says Abrie.
“PCSM is everything we wanted and needed, with one of the real attractions being that we’re able to customise as we go.”
