The Discovery 702 Walk the Talk is one of Joburg’s most well-loved and supported outdoor events, attracting 50 000 entrants for the 5km, 8km, 15km and 30km walks.
The walk takes place on Sunday 28 July 2013, and for the third year running, mapIT, together with Altech Netstar Traffic, will provide support for participants, spectators, local residents and organisers of the race with its online route planner and live traffic.
A fully interactive map indicating the 5km, 8km 15km and 30km routes, profiles for the 15km and 30km, water points, doggy “rest stops”, street level zooming, directions to parking areas and addition of a new feature of live traffic powered by Altech Netstar Traffic, is available online.
“mapIT supported this event last year which proved greatly successful. This year we have a new layout creating a faster user experience via a clearly indexed map,” explains mapIT marketing manager, Carey Dodd.
“To further enhance this we have added a new feature and partnered with Altech Netstar Traffic who have provided the live traffic feed, which will keep commuters informed with up to date traffic information around the area on the day.”
“Altech Netstar Traffic is proud to partner with mapIT again this year, providing essential route and traffic information to both the Walk organisers and members of the public. In addition to the traffic information for the live feed there will be road closure and manned traffic intersection alerts available on the live map on the Web site.
“Altech Netstar Traffic will be providing live traffic information on Twitter, and tweets @netstartraffic can be followed on the Walk the Talk website as well,” explains Mark Forbes, GM, Altech Netstar Traffic
