Schneider Electric has announced the appointment of Bruce Grobler as director for its southern African IT business unit, reporting directly to country president Eric Léger.

Grobler joined Schneider Electric five years ago as automation and drives sales manager in the company’s industry business unit. He will now focus on the fast growing consumer demand for complete data centre solutions, resulting from rising complexity induced by the trends of co-location, virtualisation, and cloud computing.

Services offered by the business unit include both basic lifecycle services for the installed base and advanced services.

In addition to IT, Schneider Electric’s business unit focus on power, infrastructure, industry and buildings; with key technologies in these units being on low voltage and renewables, medium voltage and grid automation, industrial automation, critical power and cooling, and building automation and security.

Grobler takes over the reins from Paolo Miglietta, who has returned to his native Italy.
