Formed just a year ago, Kolok SA’s hardware division has managed to double its revenue growth in one of the most fiercely contested sectors of the local ICT market.

Allan Thompson, MD of Kolok SA, says this is a significant milestone for the division which was established to offer customers a complete hardware solution offering to complement its existing consumables and office products portfolio.

“The hardware division’s success in such a short time can undoubtedly be attributed to the dedication of the experienced team we put together, coupled with the products by leading vendors that readily meet market demand,” says Thompson. “Additionally, we’ve endeavoured to provide true value-add when it comes to support, bundled solutions and overall service delivery.”

Kolok’s hardware division was started with an initial capital investment by holding company Bidvest and features branches across South African and parts of Africa, each supported by experienced personnel and advanced logistics infrastructure.

Key to the distributor success has been its market research and subsequent focus on vertical marketplaces. A good example is the recent launch of the Kolok Education Offering in partnership with Intel SA and Acer SA.

“With the Kolok Education Offering we are meeting the education needs of K-12 schools in SA and SADC region,” says Esna-May Hattingh, hardware division head at Kolok SA. “However, we didn’t embark on this project without the necessary research and crucial support by vendors such as Intel and Acer.

“Like any new division we experienced some initial teething issues; however, once these were solved we started to firmly establish ourselves as a hardware distribution player to be reckoned with,” Hattingh adds. “This next year is going to be an exciting year and with more vendors knocking on our doors, resellers can look forward to a portfolio that continues to grow to meet their customer needs.”.
