Canon Europe, world-leader in imaging solutions, is announcing that its partners can now offer Nuance Scan to Cloud software with its platform of imageRUNNER ADVANCE multi-functional devices (MFDs). The software allows organisations to automatically convert paper documents into editable formats and send them to cloud based document and sharing services including Google Drive, Dropbox, MS SharePoint or salesforce.com. The introduction of Nuance Scan to Cloud complements a range of scanning software solutions already available through partners on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform.

Partners can remotely install software on the MFDs’ multifunctional embedded application platform (MEAP). A server is not required, which allows partners to offer an affordable and scalable scanning solution to their customers. In addition, partners can configure all devices within oneorganisation at once with an easy-to-use utility tool, which saves valuableservice time.

The new software broadens Canon partners’ scanning solutions portfolio and helps them to better address customers’ scanning and cloud-sharing needs. Nuance Scan to Cloud closes the gap between the Scan Kit, which comes as standard with each Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE device offeringbasic scanning functionality, and the advanced server-based eCopy ShareScan, offering advanced information extraction, customisation and security features.

“Organisations are increasingly moving their business and document processes to the cloud and expect our partners to be able to provide them with the best technology to support this trend,” comments Warren Lock, from Canon South Africa.

“According to our Office Insights report,[1] 88% of CIOs rate cloud computing as a business priority over the next 18 months, while 63% of business leaders believe the cloud can make the entireorganisation more business agile and responsive. Markets are becoming increasingly competitive and require fast and informed decision-making, forwhich mobility is key.

“Employees therefore need to access and edit documents whenever and wherever they want – in the office, at home or on the go. Nuance Scan to Cloud, alongside Canon’s devices and technologies, offers partners a smart and lucrative way to support organisations in adapting a more mobile and efficient approach to managing business documents.”

The introduction of Nuance Scan to Cloud allows partners to provide additional scanning capabilities to their customers and achieve further sales revenues. Partners can also customise Nuance Scan to Cloud depending on their customers’ business needs by connecting the software to additional cloud services or adding the support of more than 100 languages to the software’s optical character recognition (OCT) feature.

To keep their customers company information safe, partners can promote Nuance Scan to Cloud’s enhanced security features that come at no extra cost. The software requires user authentication for scanning and uploading documents to the cloud and ensures that no documents are stored on the MFD.

In addition, documents are transferred securely to the cloud usingHypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS), a protocol for secure communication over the network.

Partners can offer Nuance Scan to Cloud in three, four or five year contracts, either with a limited or unlimited amount of scan-to-editable format conversions.

Nuance Scan to Cloud will be available for partner sales immediately.
