The Africa Print Regional Expo takes place in Durban from 26 to 27 August at the International Convention Centre.
The annual expo is a showcase for the digital print process, and will feature everything from sheetfed A3 machines up to grand format digital equipment. It will include suppliers and manufacturers of commercial and digital printers, finishing equipment, software, media and consumables.
Platinum sponsor Xerox, represented locally by Bytes Document Solutions, will be showcasing several presses at the expo, at Stand Number B2, the highlight being the recently launched Versant 2100 press.
“The expo is a unique opportunity to focus on the winning strategies that can help print shops succeed in today’s digital industry,” says Paul Haglich, marketing manager for production systems at Bytes Document Solutions. “We invite visitors to come and explore the latest technology on offer from Xerox.
“Demonstrating its ongoing support of the graphic communications segment, Xerox has launched the Versant 2100,” he adds.
“Visitors can see the shiny, new 100 page-per-minute colour press running live on the show floor. This exciting new design is highly automated, featuring proprietary, full-width-array technology. It features auto sheet clearing, a new compact belt fuser, and a broad media latitude supporting from 52 to 350 gsm. All stocks up to 300 gsm run at rated speed, and all weights can be auto-duplexed.”
The Versant 2100 press is perfect for production environments and combines speed, exclusive image quality and automation features to create colourful personalised communications, collateral, brochures, photo publishing and speciality products. It handles coated and uncoated papers, bright papers, labels, business cards, glossy brochures, window decals, greeting cards, embossed materials, polyesters and custom solutions, and even mixed-stock jobs.
Visitors serving the engineering and allied industries will be able to view the new compact, digital multifunctional Xerox 6705 wide format system. Equipped with a colour scanner for accurately relaying the intent of engineers, this device is capable of A0-size output while offering the ease of use, functionality, and productivity of office multifunction devices.
The Xerox D136 copier/printer, also new on the market, offers superior monochrome print production performance, dependability and ease-of-use, state-of-the-art finishing capabilities, and the ability to add integrated workflow-optimisation solutions. “The Xerox D136 will help you grow your business because you’ll be free to focus on what you do best: producing great work, just faster and more affordably,” adds Haglich.
Xerox will also exhibit the IJP 2000 inkjet wide format printer, a fast, colour printer designed primarily for the sign and display business. This is the first time that the printer will be on show in Durban.
“The key technology is a five-head array that spans the width of the printer,” says Haglich. “The array allows the media to zip right through the printer at much higher rate than printers with typical ‘back-and-forth’ print heads. It can print an A0 page in full colour with a resolution of 1600 x 1600dpi in just seven seconds. The IJP 2000 gives print shops a huge competitive advantage.”
Also on show are the XC570 light production/multifunction printer, and the J75 digital colour production printer/copier. The new high-performance XC570, which produces 70ppm, is a professional, light production/multifunction printer best suited for graphic arts, print-for-pay and corporate environments.
With the ongoing growth in the demand for colour, the J75 makes it easier for print shops to produce jobs ranging from photo books and brochures to direct mail pieces and catalogues. The press offers additional productivity, running all paper stocks, including heavyweight up to 300gsm, at full rated speed (75 ppm). It can easily match corporate and industry colours.
