Infor, a leading provider of business application software, has announced Infor Dynamic Science Labs, a new internal organisation focused on infusing machine-learning and big data analytics into Infor applications, making them fast, smart, scalable and elegant.
Applications powered by Infor Dynamic Science Labs will go beyond collecting, reporting, and distributing information, they anticipate problems and respond with solutions, uncover opportunities and recommend next steps, and help answer an organisation’s most pressing questions.
“Harnessing big data today is a luxury, but it will soon be a business imperative for companies to remain competitive, and this transformation will happen quickly,” says Duncan Angove, president of Infor. “Infor recognises that most companies are unable to afford the hardware and operations research personnel to take advantage of their data, so Infor Dynamic Science Labs builds machine-learning directly into our cloud applications and makes it available as part of customers’ subscriptions.”
Like it has done with design through Hook & Loop, Infor will make science a core competency, establishing Infor Dynamic Science Labs as an in-house department working across its product lines. Infor currently has two applications that deliver science-powered smart data, its revenue management system optimises 350,000 hotel rooms a day, and its talent science application has conducted behavioural assessments for 11 percent of the US workforce.
Infor Dynamic Science Labs is led by Dr Ziad Nejmeldeen, a software veteran with a PhD from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Based in the Kendall Square neighbourhood in Cambridge, Mass, the Infor Dynamic Science Labs team brings together scientists, mathematicians, engineers, and economists, to help companies make decisions with the predictive power of science.
