IFS, the global enterprise applications company, announces that Kangra Coal, a South African coal mining company, will implement IFS Applications to migrate two of its business divisions onto a single ERP suite to optimise efficiency and control in its business operations.

Kangra Coal has chosen IFS Applications to optimise business processes in its logistics and maintenance operations. The implementation will include IFS’s maintenance and purchasing and inventory, with the option of increasing this number in the future.

Kangra Coal is majority owned by Gas Natural Fenosa, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, and operates the Savmore colliery in Mpumalanga province, South Africa.

By implementing IFS Applications Kangra will replace a mixture of manually-based legacy systems with a single tool for managing maintenance and logistics to maximise the efficiency of its operations.

“We have chosen IFS because Gas Natural Fenosa had implemented IFS Applications in several facilities that the Group operates and maintains in other countries, and because IFS has vast experience of similar projects with other companies in our industry. IFS perfectly understands our needs, is user-friendly and reduces lead times. IFS Applications also has many standard functions that are well suited to mining requirements,” said Ana Jardón, Managing Director of Kangra Coal.

“The mining industry is a key focus for IFS as we grow our South African business,” says Gawie van der Merwe, IFS South Africa’s managing director. “As such, we’re delighted to add a company of Kangra Coal’s calibre to our client list. We look forward to helping Kangra boost its efficiency and agility in the years to come.”

Implementation is expected to take about five months and will be carried out by a team composed of experts from IFS and Kangra Coal.
