SilverBridge, a financial services solutions provider, has introduced a solution to maximise the benefits of using Exergy as a core policy administration platform. Exergy’s Testing as a Service (TaaS) is a solution that provides assurance that implementations run efficiently.

Exergy deployments are normally large and complex environments to manage, especially when releasing new features, upgrading the infrastructure, upgrading or changing integration points, changing processes or product parameters or upgrading to a new Exergy release.

Regression testing plays a pivotal role in managing the quality and consistency of the total solution. This is a critical outcome for financial service providers where systemic errors can be costly and risky to rectify. The frequency and scope requirements for regression testing requires an automated testing solution. Automated testing is critical to managing the risks inherent in the deployment of software.

SilverBridge CIO and Product Development Executive JC Oberholzer says test automation is a critical component for the successful implementation and maintenance of any solution. “While automated testing is critical for large solutions, the complexity of creating, managing and evolving an automated test suite requires a specialised skillset and dedicated team.”

Over the years, SilverBridge has gained extensive experience and built various toolsets for automated testing of Exergy. SilverBridge TaaS is now offered to clients as a way to get the benefits of automated testing with minimised upfront investment for automation testing tools and on-going maintenance cost associated with the test pack and the expertise required.

Automated testing reduces the cost, risk and lengthy cycle times associated with manual testing. Not only does it improve the reliability of testing, but it extends the scope of manual testing and provides rapid feedback of test results.

“Clients can now create, maintain and reuse reliable test data and also control the execution of tests. More importantly, they can also create a platform to develop additional testing that would be difficult to perform manually,” he adds.

The SilverBridge automated testing solution offers hosted automation testing with investigation and maintenance or the foundation to build and extend an automated test suite.

SilverBridge creates and maintains the test suite, utilising its expertise for setting up the test suite and for maintenance of the test cases. It also manages the complexity of evolution of the test model, saving time to get the automation test effort off the ground.

Oberholzer says it also saves time when maintaining the test cases, as it is done by experts with internal knowledge of Exergy. “Clients don’t need automation experts in-house, SilverBridge carries the cost of maintenance of the automation models.”

SilverBridge will execute the test suite on a regular basis whilst keeping the client informed of the impact of new releases on their environment. Automated testing enables clients to plan for testing of major releases with SilverBridge’s Beta testing programme. It also allows them to test their own continuous custom development and product development on the latest Exergy release with SilverBridge’s sprint testing programme.

Clients can now upgrade to the latest releases of Exergy with much less effort and risk than if only using manual testing. They no longer need to purchase licences, hardware or employ automation experts. They can now manage the total cost of ownership and reduce their costs.

“Our clients can start with a smaller test suite and expand and evolve over time. A basic test suite provides them with some quick wins, while providing a solid base from which to grow their automation test suite. They can expand the test suite as needed, based on the value they experience, while limiting the initial costs,” he concludes.
