Distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC) is showcasing the features and functionality of the next-generation Dell Compellent SC8000 Storage Centre Controller at its Dell Proof of Concept (POC) centre.
The Compellent SC8000 provides high-performance, efficient and scalable Storage Area Network (SAN) with flexibility, improved performance and density and enhanced software for greater data management.
Located at DCC headquarters in Johannesburg, the POC centre enables resellers to test the features, applications and performance of Dell hardware, and to demonstrate the solutions to their end customers before purchase.
This hands-on product demonstration will highlight the benefits of the Compellent solution, empowering resellers to make higher value sales as well as to assure their customers of the capabilities, qualities and fit of the solution within their organisation.
The Dell Compellent SC8000 is an all-in-one storage array that allows organisations to actively manage data at a highly granular level using built-in intelligence and automation.
It is ultra-efficient and easy to manage, enabling the optimisation of drive utilisation and allowing data to be moved dynamically between storage tiers and Redundant Array of Independent Discs (RAID) levels, continuously protecting data against downtime and disaster.
It scales on demand and quickly adapts to ever-changing business needs, enabling organisations to reduce the time, cost and risk of managing enterprise storage.
“By offering this solution at the POC Centre, resellers are given the opportunity to showcase key features and unique selling points directly to their customer in a live working environment. The POC centre will enable our resellers to physically show customers the solution and demonstrate the value it can deliver to their organisation. The Dell Compellent SC8000 has a number of features and benefits that the POC will demonstrate. One of the primary features of the product is data progression, which enables automated tiering of data.
Data that is not frequently used will be stored in lower storage tiers, and the less the data is used, the lower the storage tier. Important data will be stored in tier one, ensuring there is little to no delay in access, and data stored in lower tiers will be moved up if it is accessed more often. This delivers intelligent lifecycle management of your data that helps to optimise costs and storage capacity.
The SAN can scales up to 960 physical discs (3PB raw capacity) and offers virtualised storage capability, dynamic RAID policies to ensure optimal performance, and superior ease of use. In addition it features Live Volume for dynamic business continuity.
Dell Compellent Live Volume enables organisations to move volumes on demand between Storage Centre arrays within a local storage grid. All migration occurs transparently while applications remain online. Functionality is fully integrated into the virtualised storage platform, eliminating the need for additional hardware or server-side agents.
