Small to medium enterprises (SMEs) can now handle all of their data storage challenges with ease, thanks to the new Dell SC4020 Storage Array from distributor Drive Control Corporation (DCC).
Featuring all-flash, hybrid-flash, HDD and SSD solutions to suit different needs, and supported by Intel Xeon processors, the Dell DC4020 offers top-notch features at an affordable price point, making enterprise-class storage a reality for SME deployments.
“Advanced storage optimisation has typically been the sole domain of the large enterprise, offering low total cost of ownership per Gigabyte of storage while at the same time delivering a number of business benefits.
“The Dell SC4020 brings this technology within reach of the SME, offering cost saving auto-tiering and data migration capabilities to deliver the optimal balance of cost and competitive advantage,” says Jaco Erasmus, Dell enterprise division manager at DCC.
The Dell SC4020 is an intelligent, self-optimising storage array in an affordable, all-in-one form factor that is feature-rich and scalable. It is based on Dell’s flagship SC8000 enterprise platform model, offering similar benefits on a smaller scale.
The SC4020 is capable of handling multiple protocols, and features optional expansion enclosures that can be populated with any combination of HDD or SSD. Features such as virtualised multi-tier and multi-Redundant Array of Independent Discs (RAID) storage policies can be applied quickly and automatically to enable SMEs to leverage full advantage of storage disks.
A compact, space saving 2U chassis packs in dual redundant controllers, 24 internal drive slots, eight 8 Gigabit (Gb) (4 per controller) Fibre Channel or four 10Gb (2 per controller) iSCSI network ports and four additional 10Gb ports for management and replication. By adding Dell Storage SC200 or SC220 enclosures SMEs can expand beyond 24 drives for up to 400Tb of raw storage capacity.
“The SC4020 features the same industry-exclusive Fluid Data technology as the enterprise SC8000. Data Progression works in the background to automatically provision and optimise data placement across drives for optimal performance. In addition, as data ages it is automatically flagged and moved to less expensive storage. This offers the ideal combination of high performance and cost optimisation to ensure that the right data is in the right place, at the right time, at the right cost.” says Erasmus.
The Dell Storage Centre platform enables users to dynamically select required RAID levels, which allows storage to be expanded or contracted as needed. Intelligent enterprise features include space-efficient Replay Snapshots, Remote Sync/Replication, and FastTrack drive optimisation, as well as Dell’s industry leading Copilot Support.
“The ability to efficiently store, manage, access and extract value from data is the key to business success in today’s world, which means that state of the art storage is vital. As an open standard array, the Dell SC4020 enables SMEs to begin migrating to enterprise-class storage in small, affordable increments with the automated flexibility they need to succeed.
‘The SC4020 can also be deployed as an edge solution with the enterprise-class SC8000 at the core for unified, end-to-end data centre storage,” Erasmus concludes.
The Dell SC4020 Storage Array is available immediately from DCC.
