Net1 responds to corruption allegations
Net 1 UEPS Technologies has announced that Cash Paymaster Services, a subsidiary of the company, has been named as a respondent in a Notice of Motion filed by Corruption Watch, a South African non-profit civil society organisation. The Notice of Motion seeks an order from the High Court of South Africa for the reviewing and setting aside of the decision by the CEO of the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) on 25 April 2014 to approve payment of R317-million to CPS.

South Africa ranked number 67 out of 174 countries on the latest Corruption Perception Index from Transparency International. The country’s score of 44 puts South Africa on the wrong side of a scale that scores 100 for “very clean” and 0 for “highly corrupt”.
