New galaxy, seen 9,6bn years ago
Astronomers using NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope have unexpectedly discovered the most distant galaxy that acts as a cosmic magnifying glass. It pictures how the galaxy looked 9,6-billion years ago, with the monster elliptical galaxy breaking the previous record-holder by 200-million years.
