South Africa’s fastest rising social networks are visual platforms owned by the competing giants of social media – and the number of users is growing daily. YouTube users in South Africa increased by 53% to 7,2-million, while Instagram increased its user base by 65% to 1,1-million in 2014. Facebook has reached 11,8-million users, Twitter 6,6-million users, and LinkedIn has grown to 3,8-million users. “We’re seeing the beginning of the visual revolution in online usage in South Africa,” says Arthur Goldstuck, MD of World Wide Worx.
